About

Daniel Ramos Obregón is a Colombian visual artist, designer, drag performer, and educator. His practice moves between the personal and the transpersonal, utilizing individual experience and the notion of the ‘self’ as vehicles to explore broader dynamics of the human condition. The body is the central axis of his work, operating simultaneously as a subject of study, sculptural material, and location; a space of relationship and activation where his sculptures, narrative objects, and wearable pieces generate gestures, alter the silhouette, or condition movement. Rooted in “thinking through making,” his practice unfolds with an interdisciplinary and experimental character in the studio. From this space, Daniel engages in a direct dialogue with matter, drawing on mediums such as jewelry, glass, ceramics, and leather, among others, to shape his reflections.

Nationally and internationally, his work has been presented at contemporary art and design platforms such as Munich Jewellery Week, the Venice Design Biennial, and the contemporary jewelry biennials of Lisbon and Latin America. His work has also been featured in exhibitions at institutional spaces and museums, including Liljevalchs Konsthall in Sweden, Museum Arnhem in the Netherlands, the National Museum of Decorative Arts in Argentina, the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein in Germany, and the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art (MAMBO). Furthermore, Daniel was a finalist in the accessories category of the International Talent Support (2014) and has received three nominations for the Premio Lápiz de Acero in Colombia (2015, 2023).

Daniel holds a BA in Design from Universidad de los Andes (2011), where he currently works as a professor. He holds an MA in Fashion Artefact from the London College of Fashion, UAL (2014) and, in 2024, completed the Research Lab: Craft! postgraduate program at Konstfack (Sweden).
